Hi all,
I have learnt different make-up techniques last year like Highlighting & Contouring, but one thing i have accepted wholeheartedly is Makeup color correction. Color correction is the perfect solution for those who face different concerns like dark circles, redness, dullness and dark spots. Concealer always used to leave a grey tinge whenever i tried to cover up the darker skin tone around my lips. That was when i figured out that i need to do colour correction.
WHAT IS COLOUR CORRECTION ?
Color correcting cancel out the different tones on your skin and creates a color balanced canvas for your foundation and concealer.
There are hundreds of colour-correcting palettes, creams, and crayons available from different beauty brands in the market.
Three basic colors in color correcting palette are GREEN, ORANGE & LAVENDER. These colors initially can be bit scary and will have you looking like a clown but once you apply your foundation and concealer, you will be wondering why you weren’t doing this earlier. It may seem like a lot of extra work, but this method corrects things that your average foundation and concealer just can’t cover.
Green :
Neutralizes redness, covers acne breakouts, rosacea, birthmarks, rashes or skin irritation. Lighter skin tones will benefit the most when using this colour.
Yellow :
Hides blue or purple tones, covers bruises, broken capillaries or age spots.
Lavender :
Eliminates unwanted yellow undertones, covers dark circles, swallow, dull, lifeless skin.
Orange :
Hides deep discoloration on darker skin tones, covers dark spots, sun damage, acne scarring.
Blue :
Neutralizes orange discolouration, covers sun spots or pigmentations, self-tanner stains/streaks.
Those with darker skin tones like me can choose dark peach/orange colors. I use orange to hide my dark circles which can also be used to counteract other pigmented blemishes and discolouration on the skin.
Fairer & paler skinned individuals can choose yellows, light peaches, lavenders, light greens. Darker correctors are too heavy and will have too much pigment for lighter skin tone.
I use L.A. Girl HD Pro Conceal in GC990 Orange Corrector & NYX Professional Makeup CONCEAL, CORRECT, CONTOUR PALETTE in Deep.
Hope you guys found this useful.
